Latest Updates from Our Project:

Survey is coming to an end!
20 days ago – Sun, Mar 01, 2026 at 07:30:54 AM

BackerKit Survey Closing March 6th - Please make sure your survey is complete before that. Feel free to message here or email us if you need help.

Production - Panda has been on holiday for the Lunar New Year for much of February so production should pick up in earnest this week. We will be moving on to coordinating freight arrangements with our fulfillment partners while we wait for the mass production copy to arrive sometime in May or early June.
For US backers - The tariff situation is still somewhat fluid so we feel it is best to maintain our wait-and-see plan rather than trying to make a prediction early. Our hope is that tariffs will be manageable enough that no extra charge will be needed.

Conventions - We have paid our deposit and locked-in for Essen. For anyone with pickup selected we will give some additional instructions closer to the event. For anyone else who might be in attendance, come say hi!

We will be in attendance at Gencon but very unlikely to have an official presence. For anyone with pickup we will coordinate closer to the date once we work out logistics (possible partnerships or if we will simply walk around and hand them to you).

Thanks!

Why We Make Games
about 2 months ago – Sun, Feb 01, 2026 at 07:39:42 AM

Boardgames are magic - For us, they create spaces where people can come together and interact, sometimes cooperatively, sometimes opposed, within a structure that allows the events in the game to be separated from life outside the game. We make games because we want to help create those spaces, and to bring that joy to people all over the world. We focus on gameplay rather than theme or messaging because that’s the type of game we are most interested in playing repeatedly. It’s also how we generally approach managing this business, which, for anyone not aware, is something we do in our spare time.

Unfortunately, it’s hard to maintain that separation at this point with an occupying force of authoritarian immigration police in our home town (Minneapolis). They’ve murdered two of our neighbors, injured countless others, and separated families

Collectively, we oppose state violence in all of its forms. Whether it be the genocide in Gaza, police brutality that has plagued our country for decades, or the unaccountable pseudo-military occupying our state right now. Our neighbors weren’t the first people killed, they likely won’t be the last, and there may be many lives taken that we never even learn about. We will keep making games because that's the best way we know to make the world a better place.

Production Update - Kick-off for production is just around the corner. All files have been uploaded to Panda and reviewed, we just need to do one final approval of the full set of files before initiating production to start. Lots of little adjustments were needed on the foreign language versions so we ended up spending a bit of extra time on that now to make production run smoothly. We’ve used up all of the buffer we included in our timeline at this point so any hiccups we encounter could cause some delay in fulfillment.  From this point on, any delays specific to foreign language versions will no longer affect the main English production. We’ve paid our initial production deposit and as of now we are still on track for August fulfillment.

Pledge Manager - In preparation of the pledge manager closing on Friday, March 6th, please make sure your survey is completed. We will be re-sending notifications to anyone with an incomplete survey as well as reaching out individually as needed.

GenCon - Convention pickup is still in our plans, it will just be a little different than we originally thought. Getting a booth at GenCon apparently comes down to whether or not you had one in the previous year, since the size of the convention is essentially at capacity for the space they have available. So our application for a booth was denied and we were put on a waiting list. It also looks like our freight to the US will be cutting it too close to reliably make it to GenCon even if we were taken off the waiting list. We still plan to attend the show to connect with everyone who signed-up to pick up there. We will be shipping pick-up copies directly to us from the Factory to avoid the ocean freight delay. So, if you’ve signed up for GenCon pickup there’s no need to change your preference, we will get your game(s) to you at the show, it just might be at a different booth or something we coordinate directly with you.

Essen - Essen pick-up should be no problem. It’s well after our expected timeline and we submitted our application for a booth about a week ago, fingers crossed.

PPC and Heading into Production Soon
3 months ago – Thu, Jan 01, 2026 at 08:46:18 AM

Lots of good news with a pinch of caution this month.

We’ve received the pre-production versions of Landmarks of the Lost Atlas, the first printing Revision Kit, and the second printing base game box and rulebooks (no need to print everything here as most of it is not changing from our original run). Check out some pictures below!

We have some small updates to make with Panda, mostly around some card orientations that we had already flagged as needing a fix but didn’t want to delay the PPC. We will confirm that they are being corrected for the start of production.

All international partner files are uploaded to Panda and in pre-press approval. We put a lot of work into getting those files corrected with our partners directly so we shouldn’t have much, if anything, to work through here.

Timeline updates and expectations - As of now we are still on track for August fulfillment. That being said, there are two major periods ahead that could have some delays in them. For production, Panda will be working to gain some time on the estimated timeline if they can to give us more of a buffer, but it is possible for production to take longer than anticipated. Ocean freight is the other part of the process that isn’t fully predictable. We will be working with our fulfillment partners to get our shipping plan finalized and submitted to Panda ASAP once production starts.

Finally, a reminder to please make sure you have completed your survey on BackerKit. If you didn’t get an email, send us a message on Kickstarter or email [email protected] with your name/backer number and we’ll send you a direct link to your survey.

Thanks so much!

Winding Down File Prep and Gearing Up the Pledge Manager
4 months ago – Mon, Dec 01, 2025 at 07:03:15 AM

November has been slower while we work out some final details with the factory, which has taken longer than expected due to vacations and holidays. The PPC is delayed a bit from our original expectations, but nothing that should impact our final timeline. We’re also closing in on having all language versions fully uploaded for digital proofing within the window we have planned for.

The pledge manager has been sent, you all found some issues with how it was calculating the shipping and brought them to our attention. They have been resolved now and don’t require any action from anyone who may have completed before we changed things. You will either be charged what you thought or less. If you do see any other things you have questions on please let us know.

Sidenote for retail backers: Make sure to proceed through to address entry to see your actual shipping value. Until BackerKit knows where you are it calculates using the Rest of the World shipping values.

We are planning to close the pledge manager around the end of February. We’ll give everyone a heads-up before that happens in case any address changes need to happen.

Even after we close it some changes can be made, they are just done manually and take a bit more time.

We are now fully set up for our EU VAT! We knew this was coming but it is still nice to have it done for this and any future games.

We've been busy!
5 months ago – Sat, Nov 01, 2025 at 09:47:21 AM

The pledge manager will be coming soon! If all goes well the smoke test should be sent within a few days and then the full wave sent shortly after. Please let us know if you encounter any issues and we will do our best to help.

Side note for US backers: We will be sending a secondary pledge manager down the road for any tariffs since they could possibly change (hopefully lower, possibly higher). As of today we still expect to be asking for roughly $6 for a combo pack (base game + expansion).

For EU Backers: Our VAT and EORI applications were submitted in mid-October so we expect to be properly set up to deliver and sell in the EU well before fulfillment rolls around. During our first campaign this process got the best of us and we ended up using an expensive (for us) workaround to deliver to our EU backers. We’re super happy to have this step done!

All English files have been sent to Panda and reviewed for the PPC (pre production copy). There was one adjustment that needed to be made to the layout of a punchboard but everything else looked good. We’ve submitted that fix and PAnda has started working on the PPC production. Reviewing the PPC will be our last step before approving the start of mass production.  We will share some of that process when it arrives, which we expect to be in late November/early December.

Translated files are starting to come in from our localization partners. We’re coordinating closely with all of them to ensure the whole project runs on time.

Thanks so much!
